Did you really say that?

From time to time when customers come in they often say or do rather unusual things.
Considering our business is called 'The Sandwich Shak' and that even standing outside the door it can be clearly seen on the menu that there are gourmet or ordinary sandwiches for sale, we still get that common question:
"Do you do sandwiches?"
Children come out with classics. Only the other day, a father and his little boy came in and ordered doughnuts and a milkshake. I said to the little boy that I would do his milkshake and he looked quite upset.
"No," he exclaimed, "I want Sir to do it."
He was referring to my husband. I grinned at "Sir" and asked him to go and do the milkshake while I cooked the doughnuts.
My favourites are the types of coffees that people request. On average it's the normal cappucinos or flat whites, but occasionally it's a soy, decaf, half strength, not too hot latte...makes me think I'm in a scene from LA Story.
Then there's the hippie-type lady who came in and ordered soy in her coffee. When 'Sir' advised her that was an extra 30 cents, she stormed out of the shop complaining about us large corporate-types who rip the small people off....huh! We have a long way to go before we are large and corporate.

I worked in a cafe a few years ago, and the most ridiculous thing was when people ordered chocolate thickshakes - with skim milk.
The baristas would go mental!

We have it because that's what the customer wants and as it costs us more than normal milk we obviously have to pass the cost on.
Yep, we've had the skim milk thickshake orders too!
