Is Masterchef biased against vegetarians?

Now don't get me wrong, I love the show and I am definitely not vegetarian, although I do enjoy vegetarian meals.
But watching the show and the importance they put on tasting a meal and the amount of meat they cook, I wonder how anyone who is a vegan or claims any level of vegetarianism can make it on the show.
I remember in series one, the challenge was to taste from a big vat of spaghetti bolognaise sauce and guess the ingredients. One young female contestant was in tears because she couldn't bear the thought of eating meat. Consequently she didn't get far in the competition.
Then there is the issue of those who are gluten-intolerant or have food allergies towards eggs and nuts etc.
Is the world of Masterchef only for the select few, who are able to eat everything, invited...oh, and who can cook?
