Kate and William's Wedding Cake
May 1st 2011 10:20
The detail on their eight tiered cake was just phenomenal.
Kate and William may have been wrapped up in their romantic day but behind the scenes cake maker Fiona Cairns and her team spent the last five weeks making an absolutely confectionary masterpiece.
With 900 sugar paste flowers and 17 different types of foilage the intricate designs on the large cake were gasp-worthy.
Ms Cairns commented that the hardest part of the huge project was transporting it from Leicestershire to the palace.
That is one cake you definitely didn't want to drop.
Prince William did ask, however, for a special cake to be made from chocolate biscuits from McVities.
The second cake contained 40 pounds of chocolate and 1700 biscuits.
McVities biscuits have been a childhood favourite of Prince Williams.
